Who am I, and what's my agenda
My name is Even Holen, as you might have guessed, and I'm a Norwegian guy in my early 30's. I've recently been introduced to wiki's, and would like to make my contribution to the community. I'm a member of the development team, and are going to extend and develop this marvellous wiki named WikkiTikkiTavi.
I intend to try making 'Tavi into an even better wiki than it is today. This I hope to do through implementing suggestions and patches originating from the community and myself. As to this I've already written some patches and suggestions which I would like comments on as to whether they should be implemented or not. These are listed in the next section.
Regarding 'Tavi EvenHolen/TodoList shows my current short time goals.
- And now my agenda is to have myself a christmas holiday together with my family. But firstly I'm going to release the 0.25 version of 'Tavi... See you all in the new year, when lots of new version of 'Tavi will come, hopefully
Some of my patches and suggestions
In the following list version numbers are used to indicate whether I'm currently working on them, or if set in bold like (0.23) it means this was included from this version. Patches/features I've added to my local version of WikkiTikkiTavi are:
I've also done some answering on the TaviSuggestions-page, and amongst other projects I would like to do the following regarding this WikiEngine (bold version number indicates from which version it was implemented):
- Enhancing subpages (0.24)
- I do think TaviPatches/SubPages is an interesting concept and would like to implement this
- Build site page
- As explained in TaviSuggestions/BuildSitePage, I want to have the opportunity to build a giant page containing lots of other pages in order to make a printed copy of a site.
- Proper paragraphs (0.25)
- Today every single line is ended by <br />, and this is I would like to change so that paragraphs are indeed included in a <p>-tag. And other stuff within it's default tags
- Reorganize TaviSuggestions
- In order to get a proper overview I'm very tempted to do a full makeover on this page, and try to enforce a style which gives developers the possibility to answer and let the answers stand out somehow. Also to give an indication as to whether the suggestions are read or not, and if they are to be implemented. This is partly done, but I'm not quite satisified yet
- Add CSS-options?
- Try to look into the possibility of adding either class/id-tags to different elements to ease styling of text using CSS. This is somewhat extended, but I've included the suggestion TaviSuggestions/CurlyOptions
- Loose monospaced lists
- See TaviSuggestions/LooseMonospacedLists about output of macros like LinkTable
- Add support for plugins
- This I think is a Columbi egg, do read TaviSuggestions/PlugIns
- Display orphans to be deleted 0.23
- Mark the orphans scheduled for deletions, see TaviPatches/OrphansToBeDeleted.
Suggestions of other users
- new default style sheet
- I urge you to use Dick'sDefaultCSS; I think you'll find it easier on the eyes and more efficient. In any case, I think the present Tavi style sheet has problems and should be replaced.
- Along with changing some other aspects of the CSS layout, I will seriously (read: most likely) change the default stylesheet. I will then strongly consider the one given by Dick. --EvenHolen
- MySQL export
- A cool thing to introduce in tavi would be the possibility to export, as in other wiki implementations, the MySQL table/data related to Tavi. I think to a kind of macro callable inside any page and/or a link in the admin page.
- See TaviSuggestions/ExportImport for a discussion of this idea and similar thoughts. --EvenHolen
- Document on "How to Get Help"
- It speaks for itself, but it should include direction on how to make 'support calls', bug reports and installation instructions, at least.
- Such a page will be added when I (or someone else) get around to refactoring the documentation which I consider to be not up to the standard of the code elsewise in Tavi. --EvenHolen
- Discuss security of 'Tavi
- Answer questions regarding security. Like: Is symlinking out to a space outside of the web-space really safer than keeping everything within the web-addressable space?
- SingleLine problem
- Look to TaviBugs/SingleNewline on my post if this correct the problem?
