Ok, so fine ... discovering Tavi is the sliver strand in a mass of dark clouds: three days it's taken me to fail at what normally takes 15 minutes or less to accomplish, i.e. installing PHP and MySQL with Xitami. In the course of ransacking the web for reasons I found *tada* this site, which is /just precisely and exactly what I was going to look for next/. (Unfortunately, PHP still isn't working ... .php=c:\php\php.exe in filters, mime type in place, cgi redirect in php.ini ... no joy. *sigh* [addendum: corrupt Kernel32.dll ... deadly! BTW, I'm editing this from inside Lynx, how's that for amazing! The only problem so far: there seems to be no way of adding a newline. I'll try cut and paste, but if you know Lynx you might imagine what I'm looking at right now. *grin* Phew! /that/ didn't work well at all!])
